Welcome to Beaufort
About John Trask III
My grandfather moved to Beaufort in 1938 from Wilmington, N.C. to start a new family farm and to raise his family. He had a large farming operation and was active in several local businesses as well as politics. I had the good fortune of being born into a third generation Beaufort family and was raised at Orange Grove Plantation on St. Helena Island. Beaufort was very much a small town in the late 1960's and 1970's still undiscovered with fewer roads and people. As a matter of fact, Charles Fraser was just getting Hilton Head and Sea Pines under way and there wasn't a bridge to Fripp Island yet!
I went to Beaufort Academy, then to Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, studied as an English Speaking Union Scholar near Peterborough, Engalnd and graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BA in European Studies. During the late 1980's and through 1995, I owned and operated a wholesale florist in Memphis, Tn. and moved back home to Beaufort in 1996. At that time I became a partner in Lowcountry Real Estate and started my real estate career in earnest. I am a founding director of Lowcountry National Bank (ticker symbol CBCO) and have been involved in many local civic and business activities.
My wife Laura of sixteen years is from Atlanta and we have three children: Isabelle who is fifteen, Peter who is 9, and Josephine who is six and just started first grade. We enjoy spending time together in our beautiful Lowcountry environment fishing, crabbing, swimming, and camping. Travelling is another favorite pastime, and Isabelle, my fifteen year old, and I recently returned from a two week adventure in Vietnam.
I would like to assist you and your family or business in your move to Beaufort. I am qualified not only to show you residential homes, waterfront properties, and commercial sites but more importantly would enjoy introducing you to the wonderfully unique Lowcountry lifestyle. Feel free to call me on my cell at 843-812-2210 or to email me at johntrask@hargray.com . Thanks for your time, and we'll see how the Lowcountry becomes you!
